What We Do
The Ignited Research Collaborative (IRC) was launched in 2010 to support high school science teachers who are committed to increasing the rigor of scientific inquiry and research in their classrooms, schools, and districts. IRC teachers collaborate throughout the school year to learn best-practices from skilled instructors and then implement those methodologies themselves. Inquiry methods have been shown to reduce the achievement gap in STEM subjects for underserved students.
“The fundamental essence of science, which we’ve lost in our education system, is poking something with a stick and seeing what happens. Embrace that process of inquiry.” – Philippe Cousteau, Conservationist
