Requirements
- Districts: San Francisco Unified School District
- Position: K-12 teachers and staff
- Location: 3 days in-person in San Francisco
Learn about the science of public utilities in the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Water Week. This program is open to middle & high school teachers of any subject area in San Francisco Unified School District.
A few of the planned activities:
- Talk to a project engineer involved in a freshwater project
- Talk with a geologist about the history of Treasure Island & a structural engineer about making San Francisco’s electricity and water supplies seismically safe
- Go on a walking tour of green infrastructure used to capture stormwater in SF
- Visit the “living machine” at the SFPUC
Learn about a range of job functions within the field through tours, job shadows, and employee interviews. Develop a lesson to bring back to your school, and earn $1,100.
