Track the journey of water from its origin to reuse in this week-long externship designed for middle and high school educators. Through tours, job shadows, and other interactions with local water industry employees, participants will gain insights to the well-paid careers available in this vital industry:
- Wastewater and Water Treatment Centers: Explore how water is treated and managed at each stage of its journey.
- Industrial Careers: Discover high-impact pathways in plant operations, construction, fleet maintenance, and safety/risk management.
- Water Quality & Environmental Protections: Learn how quality is monitored and the regulations that protect our ecosystems.
- Reuse of Water: Learn how communities are reusing water in safe, sustainable ways to ensure water security.
- Geology, Engineering, and Renewable Resources: Explore the science and engineering behind water systems, including strategies for creating sustainable, renewable resources.
- Planning a Field Trip for Your Students: Gain the tools and support needed to organize your own educational field trip to a local water facility, helping your students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
